With great sadness, we announce the passing of Scan DeCamillo, on February 23, 2021.

Scan was a pioneer in fluid-film bearings, and his achievements include new and modified products that extended the applicable range of those bearings, as well as the accurate prediction of their performance. Scan’s career at Kingsbury spanned more than 45 years, and throughout that time, he had an insatiable curiosity and passion for knowledge. From bringing Kingsbury’s bearing prediction capabilities into the computer age in the 1970s and 1980s, to his renown throughout the industry and around the world, Scan’s impact on our Company, our Industry and on everyone he worked and interacted with is unforgettable.

For all his scientific and technical capabilities and achievements, Scan will be remembered most for his smile, his sense of humor, and the genuine and caring conversations you had with him. Scan’s passion for tribology was only surpassed by his love of family and friends. He had various other interests and hobbies, including the bands he performed in, his interest in many types of music, his love of travel and interest in various cultures, and - neither last nor always least - his affinity for slapstick comedy.

I am honored to have known Scan for my entire career and fortunate to have traveled and spent time with him and learned from him. Scan may have been small in stature, but he was a giant, both in what he achieved professionally and in the human being that he was. Please join us at Kingsbury in remembering Scan for all that he meant to us, and keep Scan, Marcia, and his large, extended family in your thoughts and prayers.
