Kingsbury Bearing Design Configurators
Since 2010, Kingsbury's Engineering Department has embarked on a project to create or update standard designs for all major bearing lines. Although certain products, such as equalized thrust bearings, have had standard dimensions for many decades, other important aspects such as instrumentation have not been addressed.

Kingsbury Celebrates Centennial
At the turn of the 20th century, Holtwood Station on the Susquehanna River was one of the most sophisticated hydroelectric plants in the world, with each of its 10 MW generators accepting 45 tons of force from its turbine. Under this heavy load, conventional roller bearings were routinely failing within months. Facing financial ruin, the utility decided to allow Dr. Kingsbury to test his new fluid film bearing invention.
The first bearing was officially put into service on 27 June 1912. Unlike its predecessors, the Kingsbury bearing has lasted 100 years, all with its original parts. In fact, engineers have estimated that the bearing could last another 1200 years. To view a short video explaining the historical significance of this landmark invention, visit the Kingsbury home page, and take a few moments to explore our website while you're there. We share a wealth of technical papers covering many different topics on fluid-film bearings.
Equalize Your Additional Misalignment
Equalizing thrust bearings are specifically designed to accommodate a certain degree of static misalignment before a load is applied. This misalignment is typically due to housing and bearing machining tolerances, or misalignment between the shaft and housing. This is static misalignment because the misalignment exists before a thrust load is applied.
