PHILADELPHIA, PA, March 16, 2001 - Kingsbury, Inc. announced that the Research and Development Department at its division in Philadelphia, PA has become ISO 9001 Certified. Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance audited the Research & Development Department's quality systems in late December and verified that it meets national quality standards for products and procedures. Lloyd's Register, which is headquartered in Houston, Texas, provided the official three-year certification document to Kingsbury in late February.
"We're extremely proud of the Research & Development team and commend them for their dedication and hard work which has made this achievement possible," said William R. Strecker, Kingsbury's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He added that Kingsbury views the ISO 9001 certification as further testament to its long-standing commitment to excellence in providing quality products and service to its customers.
During the audit, Lloyd's Register reviewed the Research & Development Department's various quality systems including its quality systems manual, systems level procedures, work instructions and quality records. Joseph Wilkes, Kingsbury's Director of Engineering, said the department prepared for the audit by creating detailed work instructions for laboratory personnel and making certain that the lab's equipment was properly calibrated. He also noted that Research & Development personnel had received specialized training in areas applicable to ISO 9001 certification.
Strecker said, "Our customers have always known that Kingsbury's quality standards are high, and having our Research & Development Department become ISO 9001 Certified serves to confirm this. It also lets new customers know with absolute certainty that they can consistently rely on Kingsbury to meet their needs and that there's no need for them to conduct their own audit to qualify Kingsbury as an approved source."
