PHILADELPHIA, PA, October 16, 2002 - Kingsbury, Inc. has received ISO 9001/2000 certification from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). Kingsbury has been ISO 9001/1994 certified since 1995 but proactively pursued the recently updated certification to join a short list of organizations that have already met the new standard.
"We went through a company-wide system audit," explained Suzanne Pudlo, Corporate Quality Systems Specialist at Kingsbury. "Achieving certification required a complete check of our research, design, development and manufacturing processes." The audit occurred during July and August consisting of three days at Kingsbury's Philadelphia division and one day at their Oshkosh division in Wisconsin.
The new ISO standard is process model based and has been developed using a core set of eight quality management principles. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a non-government foundation that promotes standards relating to quality management around the world.
Though already in compliance with many of the new requirements, Kingsbury did insert two level-two procedures for customer satisfaction and continual improvement. Company personnel also participated in additional training. Kingsbury had successfully passed previous surveillance audits from LRQA in June and December of last year without any non-compliances.
The main reason for the year 2000 revision to the ISO 9000 standards was to give users the opportunity to add value to their activities and to improve their performance continually by focusing on the major processes within the organization.
